WHAT ARE COOKIES
Cookies are small strings of text that the sites visited by the user send to his or her terminal (usually to the browser), where they are memorized, to then be retransmitted to the same sites upon the subsequent visit from the same user. Thanks to cookies, the site remembers your actions and preferences (such as login data, language selected, characterize size and other settings) so that they do not need to be indicated again if the user returns to visit the site or navigate from one page to another of the same.
Various types of cookies exist.
In fact, cookies can be installed by the site visited by the user (first-party cookies) or by other sites (third-party cookies). This happens because in the site visited by the user there can be elements (images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than those of the site visited. Based on their purposes, cookies are distinguished into two macro-categories: technical cookies and profiling cookies.
Technical cookies are those used only in order to execute the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the supplier of a service to the company, information expressly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service. These cookies are not used for additional purposes and are normally installed directly by the site visited by the user. In particular, they can allow for normal navigation and use of the site and navigation based on a series of criteria selected in order to improve the service rendered.
The prior consent of the user is not required for the installation of technical cookies.
Analytic cookies are similar to technical cookies, where they are used directly by the manager of the site to gather aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site. Such cookies allow the manager of the site to understand how users interact with the contents of the site, in order to optimize the services.
Profiling cookies, on the other hand, are aimed at creating profiles relating to the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by the same during navigation. The prior consent of the user is required for the installation of this type of cookie.
Lastly, based on their duration, cookies are distinguished between persistent, that remain stored on the user’s device until their expiration, unless removed by the user, or session cookies, that disappear with the closing of the browser, and thus have a limited duration.
TYPE OF COOKIES PRESENT ON THE SITE
The Site uses:
- technical navigation cookies (first-party and third-party) to allow normal navigation of the Site by the user, its correct functioning and the use of its basic functions, as well as security. The user’s consent is not required for the installation of these cookies;
- Analytic cookies (third-party) to gather information on the use of the Site and to develop statistical analysis. The user’s consent is necessary for the installation of these cookies.
The characteristics of these cookies are described in more detail here.
Finally, this Site could contain links or references for access to other web sites. The Company does not have the power to control the cookies and/or monitoring technologies of other web sites, to which this statement does not apply.
MANAGEMENT OF COOKIE PREFERENCES AND NATURE OF CONSENT
At the moment of the first access to any page on the Site, a banner appears that contains a summary informational statement of the cookies present on the Site. By clicking on the “Accept All” button, the user consents to the installation of all of the cookies present on the Site; by clicking on the “Reject All” button, the user continues navigation in the absence of cookies other than technical cookies for which it is not necessary to express consent; by clicking on the “Personalize” button, the user may express and save their preferences in relation to each type of cookies present on the Site. Those choices are memorized and recorded through the use of a specific “technical cookie,” that allows the user to directly access the Site – in the case of subsequent visits – without having to express their consent to the use of those cookies again. The banner will thus not appear again, unless: i) significant and substantial changes take place (for example, to the list of third parties); ii) the Company is unable to determine whether a cookie has already been memorized on the device, and iii) six (6) months have passed from the previous appearance of the banner.
In any event, the user is always allowed to modify and manage the preferences expressed regarding cookies, blocking their installation or revoking the consent initially provided, by clicking on the “Manage Consent” link present in the footer of each page of the Site or by clicking on the link in the previous paragraph. By doing so, the user may check the state of activity or inactivity of each type of cookies on the Site, and manage the expressions of consent. At the time of managing consent and the preferences expressed regarding cookies, through the same link the user may see the information and methods to disable third-party cookies.
PROCEDURES FOR MODIFYING BROWSER COOKIE SETTINGS
At any time, the user may also deactivate, activate, or cancel cookies through the use of the settings in their own browser. Below we indicate the relevant procedures offered by the main browsers:
